The nonwovens market in Asia – especially in China – is very active. Products such as adult diapers are still a relatively new segment here. At the same time, local nonwovens manufacturers are gaining market share. It is therefore important to be able to offer machine models for entry into semi- and fully automated packaging for all segments. At CIDPEX (Wuhan, China) in mid-April, Optima Nonwovens showed what these solutions can look like.
In particular, the demand for automatic packaging solutions, such as the OPTIMA DS1 for baby diapers, generated great interest at the trade show booth. But the semi-automatic OPTIMA GOOD machine also covers another important segment in China and generated a lot of interest. The newly developed OPTIMA LUCK really drew in the crowds at CIDPEX and inspired countless visitors. The OPTIMA LUCK draws up to 800 baby diapers into the infeed every minute and produces up to 50 packs per minute. Compared to the OPTIMA DS1, it features improved compression, a manual insert and an extended format range.
At CIDPEX, Optima Nonwovens presented its comprehensive portfolio of baby and adult diapers. For the adult segment, the company presented OPTIMA MIDNIGHT, another entry-level model. The machine draws up to 300 adult diapers into the infeed per minute, producing up to 40 packs per minute. The system is optionally available with a bag-making device. Other topics at the trade show included high-performance machines and extended automation solutions. These include integrated quality controls and systems for secondary packaging, for example.
Visitors were also fascinated by Optima Nonwovens' specific concept involving Chinese service personnel in the assembly of systems for Chinese customers. Assembly of the systems takes place in Germany. In this way, Chinese service personnel get to know the machines for "their" customers from the ground up. Visitors were also extremely interested in the close networking with German nonwovens experts, several of whom work permanently or predominantly on site in Asia, as well as being impressed by the "Made in Germany quality" in general.
At CIDPEX, decision-makers from China and the entire Asian region were on hand to discuss various specific projects. The number of contacts remained constant compared to previous years, and Optima Nonwovens was very satisfied with the overall outcomes of the show.
